Walking into a martial arts school for the first time can feel like a big step.
For kids, a private intro helps them meet the instructor, see the school, and try a few skills before joining a group class.
For parents, it gives you a chance to ask questions, see how your child responds, and understand which program or membership option may fit best.
For adults, it creates a comfortable first step before joining a kickboxing class or choosing private training.
At BRKKA, every student starts differently. Some students are excited. Some are nervous. Some need confidence. Some want fitness. Some want self-defense. The private intro helps us learn where you are starting so we can guide you from there.
For children, the free intro is designed to be friendly, simple, and low-pressure.
Your child will meet the instructor, try a few basic martial arts movements, and get a feel for how our classes work. We may practice simple stances, blocks, kicks, punches, listening skills, balance, or focus drills depending on your child’s age and comfort level.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is to help your child feel comfortable, confident, and willing to try.
During the intro, we will also look at which program is the best fit:
Dragonflies Karate for ages 4–6
Kids Martial Arts for ages 7–13
For some children, group classes are a great fit right away. For others, the Group + Private option may be better because it provides extra individual attention and helps build confidence alongside group training.
After the intro, we will explain the schedule, membership options, and next steps so you can decide what works best for your fami
Parents are welcome to watch the intro class.
This gives you a chance to see how your child responds to the instructor, how they follow directions, and whether the environment feels like a good fit.
You can also ask questions about:
Class schedule
Program options
Group classes
Private lessons
Memberships
Uniforms and equipment
Makeups and attendance
How martial arts may help your child with confidence, focus, discipline, or self-control
Many parents are not sure if their child is “ready” for martial arts. That is normal. The intro class helps answer that question in a real setting.
For adults and teens ages 13 and up, the free intro is designed to help you try the training without feeling thrown into a group class on day one.
We will talk about your goals and introduce a few basic skills at a comfortable pace.
Depending on your interests, your intro may include basic kickboxing movements, stance, footwork, punches, kicks, pad work, movement, or self-defense concepts.
Adult group classes at BRKKA are kickboxing only. Private lessons can focus on kickboxing, Kenpo Karate, self-defense, fitness, fundamentals, or a personalized combination based on your goals.
The intro helps us understand what you are looking for and recommend the best path forward.
What Adults Can Expect
You do not need to be in shape before starting.
You do not need martial arts experience.
You do not need to know the difference between karate, kickboxing, Kenpo, or self-defense before your intro.
We will help you figure that out.
Some adults choose group kickboxing classes. Some choose Group + Private so they can combine the energy of group training with personal coaching. Others choose private lessons only because they prefer one-on-one training or want to focus on specific goals.
The intro class gives you a chance to try it, ask questions, and decide what feels right.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move.
A t-shirt and casual workout pants or shorts are fine for the first class. You do not need to buy a uniform or equipment before your introductory lesson.
We will explain anything you need after you decide to begin.
After the intro class, we will recommend the program that best fits your age, goals, schedule, experience, and comfort level.
You may choose:
Dragonflies Karate for ages 4–6
Kids Martial Arts for ages 7–13
Adult Kickboxing for ages 13+
Group-only training
Group + Private training
Adult private lessons only
We will explain the next steps clearly so you can make the right decision for yourself or your child.
